Formula E Season 10 Expands with New Venues and a Record 17-Race Calendar
Formula E's Season 10 expands to 17 races, introducing new venues like Misano and a Portland doubleheader, spanning from Mexico City to Shanghai, highlighting sustainable racing and innovation.
The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship has unveiled its most extensive calendar yet for Season 10, introducing Italy's Misano World Circuit as a new venue and expanding Portland to a doubleheader weekend. This expansion culminates in a record-breaking 17-race season. The FIA World Motor Sport Council recently approved the inclusion of Misano, making it one of the three new locations alongside Tokyo and Shanghai for the upcoming season.
Misano, set in the picturesque Emilia-Romagna region near Rimini beach resort, is a renowned MotoGP circuit and the home turf of legendary rider Valentino Rossi. Formula E is set to make its debut there with back-to-back races on April 13 and 14. The announcement was made official by Andrea Abodi, the Italian Minister of Sport, and Stefano Bonaccini, President of Emilia Romagna, in the presence of Alberto Longo, Formula E Co-Founder & Chief Championship Officer.
Minister Abodi emphasized the importance of Italy hosting such a sustainable and technologically advanced event, reflecting on the country's deep-rooted love for motorsport. President Bonaccini echoed these sentiments, noting the significance of Formula E's net-zero carbon certification and its contribution to the fight against climate change.
Portland, after its successful debut last season, will now host a double-header event, showcasing the full potential of Formula E's revolutionary GEN3 race cars. The races in Portland, scheduled for June 29 and 30, will precede the season finale in London on July 20 and 21. These additions underscore Formula E's commitment to diversifying its race locations and adhering to its mission of pioneering sustainable racing.
Alberto Longo expressed his excitement about racing at the historic Misano track and introducing Formula E to its local fanbase. Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E, highlighted the balance in Season 10's calendar between iconic street circuits and established tracks, underscoring Formula E's dominance in street racing and its expanding global footprint.
Formula E's Season 10 is set to kick off in Mexico City on January 13, 2024, traversing continents and iconic cities like Tokyo, where it will support the Zero Emission Vehicle initiative. The season will also witness Formula E's first race in Shanghai at the Shanghai International Circuit, a nod to the championship's growing popularity in China.
This expansion of the Formula E calendar for Season 10 marks a significant milestone in the championship's history. It not only enhances the global appeal of the electric racing series but also reinforces its commitment to promoting sustainable mobility and innovative racing experiences. Fans and teams alike eagerly anticipate the start of Season 10, which promises to be a thrilling journey through new and familiar territories in the world of electric motorsport.
