Nikhil Bohra: A Promising Journey with MP Motorsport in the Formula Regional European Championship
Nikhil Bohra, the rising Indian-American star, is set to elevate his racing career with MP Motorsport in the Formula Regional European Championship, showcasing his exceptional talent and ambition in the 2024 motorsport season.
Nikhil Bohra, the dynamic Indian-American racer, has announced his exciting switch to MP Motorsport for a second season in the prestigious Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) and the Formula Regional Middle East Championship (FRMEC). This strategic move marks a significant milestone in Bohra's racing career and is set to be a game-changer in the 2024 motorsport season.
Born in New York City and currently residing in Singapore, Bohra has demonstrated exceptional talent in his debut season, making him a much-anticipated addition to MP Motorsport's three-car team in FRECA. Alongside his team-mate Valerio Rinicella, Bohra is poised to elevate the team's performance in the upcoming season.
Bohra's journey with MP Motorsport began with promising results. During a mid-November test at Mugello in Italy, he showcased his exceptional skill by clocking the second and fourth best times over two days, instantly aligning with the frontrunners. His consistent performance continued in the subsequent Imola test, where he recorded the fourth fastest time, and later in Barcelona, Spain, where he remained a top-five contender in most sessions.
These impressive test results fueled a confident decision by both Bohra and MP Motorsport to continue their partnership into his sophomore season in FRECA. With Bohra and Rinicella already secured for two of MP's seats, the team is excitedly anticipating the signing of another strong contender for their third seat.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Bohra said, "It’s great news that I will be an MP Motorsport driver in my second season in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. I want to prove myself in this highly competitive series, and MP Motorsport's winning record in single-seater championships is incredibly inspiring."
MP Motorsport's team principal, Sander Dorsman, mirrored this sentiment. "I’m extremely pleased to welcome Nikhil into our FRECA squad," Dorsman stated. "He’s proven himself in his debut season and in testing with us, consistently showing up at the top of the timesheets. His partnership with Valerio and our soon-to-be-announced third driver is going to make for an exciting season."
Before stepping into the world of single-seater racing, Bohra had a successful career in karting, winning titles like the Asian ROK and IAME champion. His single-seater debut came in late 2021 in the German F4 Championship and the Skip Barber Formula Racing Series in America. In 2022, he switched to Italian F4, simultaneously participating in the German F4, the Indian Racing League, and the UAE Formula 4 Championship, where he not only claimed multiple poles and wins but also helped win the team championship.
His success continued in the 2023 Formula Regional Middle East Championship with another win and multiple podiums. His first FRECA season culminated with a podium finish and leading his team in points, ending up 12th in the final driver standings.
As Nikhil Bohra gears up for his second season with MP Motorsport in the Formula Regional European Championship, the motorsport world is buzzing with anticipation. Bohra’s journey is not just a story of racing success; it's a narrative of relentless dedication, skill, and the unwavering pursuit of motorsport excellence.
