The 2023/2024 Asian Le Mans season launched with an electrifying start at the 4 Hours of Sepang, showcasing thrilling motorsport action under the blue skies. The race, which began in ideal conditions, escalated in intensity in the final hour as a storm transformed the track, challenging the teams and drivers with its sudden wet conditions.
Leading the pack in the LMP2 category was the Jordanian-flagged team, achieving a remarkable victory. The LMP3 class saw a spectacular performance from the #17 COOL Racing Ligier JS P320 team. James Winslow, Alex Bukhantsov, and Danial Frost demonstrated strategic racing, moving from third to first in the second half of the race to clinch victory. The 2022 LMP3 champions, CD Sport, secured second place with Michael Jensen, Nick Adcock, and Fabien Lavergne in the #2 Ligier JS P320. Newcomers to the Asian Le Mans Series, Bretton Racing, completed the podium with a commendable third-place finish by Dan Skocdopole, Julien Gerbi, and Stefan Mihnea in the #26 Ligier JS P320.
In the GT class, the #42 Sainteloc Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO 2 team of Christopher Haase, Gilles Magnus, and Alban Varutti stood out, remaining unscathed through a tumultuous race. Starting strong from pole position, the team led the race from the beginning to the end, securing a dominant victory. The #66 Attempto Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO 2 team, consisting of Dylan Pereira, Alex Aka, and Andrey Mukovoz, clinched second place, while the #43 Saintloc Racing sister car team of Dennis Marschall, Paul Evrard, and Zhou Bihuang completed the podium, marking an impressive one-two-three finish for Audi in the GT class.
